notion that American foreign policy has been hijacked by a handful

Bush Budget Has $585 Billion for Defense in 2009
Posted on: Tue Feb 5th, 2008 | Voice of America

President Bush’s budget for next year, sent to the Congress for debate on Monday, includes more than half a trillion dollars in basic defense spending, and another $70 billion to fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and related operations, for about half of the year.

Some interesting analysis of US & world geo-politics, and the events
    leading upto this point.

    max- So $585B + $70B (2nd half of year) = $655B for ’09.

    Not bad Eh ?
Given that trend, one can predict a trillion dollar anual defence budget
    well within our lifetimes.

Currently with a now burgeoning 10 trillion dollar
    federal deficit, I believe that’s 13 digits ! With a looming general
    economic resession taking hold.

    1 billion = 10 to the 9th
    10 bill = 10 to the 1oth
    100 bill = 10 to the 11th
    1 trillion = 10 to the 12th
    10 trillion = 10 to the 13th !

    Here’s a thought,
If you took ALL the money squandered in GWB’S “I-Rack” occupation,
and gave it to GM, FORD, & Chyrsler, to pour into research and subsidied
pricing, six years ago, perhaps most of
us might be driving electric powered cars by now.

Or, how about better roads, better health care,
Education, basic scientific and industrial research, transportation,

“It’s no way of life at all, it’s humanity hanging by
    an iron cross.”*
