Retired USMC Colonel TX Hammes has an article in Small Wars Journal that merits your attention (anything TX writes merits attention, for that matter).  As he explains, our activities in Afghanistan are beginning to threaten our relations not only with Pakistan, but with India.  Is this part of a well thought out plan, or just something that momentum or domestic politics are leading us into?

Before we rush more troops into Afghanistan, we must answer basic questions about our strategy for the region and how our efforts in Afghanistan support that strategy. Good tactics and more troops are not a substitute for a strategy — and in fact can significantly raise the cost of a bad strategy.
